About the Southeastern Cave Conservancy
The Southeastern Cave Conservancy, Inc. (SCCi) is a tax-exempt
not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to cave acquisition, conservation,
and management. A group of southeastern cavers formed the SCCi in 1991 and
the organization currently has about 800 members. Membership is open to anyone interested in caves and cave conservation. The SCC currently owns or leases 1,453 acres of land in six states, 63 caves, 27 cave preserves, and over $1.7 million in land assets. For information on our cave preserves, visit the Preserves link above. To learn more about the SCCi, visit the links to the left.

We are interested in caves anywhere in the southeastern US that need protection or
management for conservation or access reasons. The SCCi is particularly interested in
caves that are threatened with closure or destruction or those which provide a habitat
for endangered species such as the Gray Bat, Tennessee Cave Salamander, or Hart's Tongue
Fern. Our mission is to preserve caves and cave environments and to manage them
responsibly.
We urge all southeastern cavers, cavers from other areas who visit the
region, and anyone interested in protecting our underground wildernesses, to consider joining the SCCi and helping to support projects such as the
acquisition of Neversink. Membership costs only $15 per year, and $14 of that is
tax-deductible. For more information on SCCi projects and activities or to volunteer assistance, you can
contact any of the Directors. You can send general questions to info@scci.org. We need your help! The Southeastern Cave Conservancy is working hard to
further the protection of caves and karst areas in the Southeaster US. We are
passionate about purchasing caves and ensuring access so that they may be
enjoyed, studied and explored forever. Please consider supporting us with
financial resources and think about joining and volunteering.
