Fricks Cave is the summer home for a colony of federally-protected endangered Gray Bats (Myotis Grisescens) and is closed to all visitation without written permission of the SCCi Fricks Cave Management Committee. Gray Bats are very sensitive to human activity and may be harmed by the disturbance of cavers passing through the cave. The SCCi purchased this preserve primarily to protect the bats, and does not allow any activity that might disturb them or cause them harm. Trespassers will be prosecuted according to state and federal endangered species protection laws.

The SCCi hosts an annual "Open House" day at the preserve each winter to allow properly equipped and trained cavers to tour the cave when the bats are not present. Use of the surface regions of the preserve for SCCi meetings and other events does not include  access to the cave. If you have questions about the SCCi Fricks Cave preserve, please see the preserve management plan or contact the Fricks Cave Management Committee.
