Directions to the SCCi Fricks Cave Preserve

The Fricks Cave Preserve is located at the base of Lookout Mountain about 10 miles west of Lafayette, Georgia. An interactive map and driving directions are available from Yahoo Maps.
From Atlanta take I-75 North for about 70 miles to the Lafayette exit. Follow GA 136 West about 30 miles to Lafayette, Georgia and an intersection at the town square. Follow the directions below for the Eastern Approach.
From Knoxville take I-75 South to Chattanooga, then South toward Atlanta for about 20 miles to the Lafayette exit. Follow GA 136 West about 30 miles to Lafayette, Georgia and an intersection at the town square. Follow the directions below for the Eastern Approach.
Eastern Approach: Turn left (south) at the square and go two blocks to a traffic light at an intersection with GA 193 on the right. Turn right (west) onto 193 and follow it out of town, past Pigeon Mountain, through a gap, and across the valley to the base of Lookout Mountain. As the road curves north along the base of the mountain, look for Harold Stephens road on the left. Follow Stephens Road back into the cove, bearing left at each of two T-intersections. Follow the paved road through a gate (normally locked, but open for board meetings or other events) until the pavement ends. Park in the designated area. A map is available here.
From Birmingham take I-59 North to the Trenton GA exit (Hwy 136). Follow the directions below for the Western Approach.
From Huntsville take US 72 East to I-24 at South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Take I-24 East to I-59 South to the Trenton GA exit (Hwy 136). Follow the directions below for the Western Approach.
From Chattanooga take I-24 West to I-59 South to the Trenton GA exit (Hwy 136). Follow the directions below for the Western Approach.
From Nashville take I-24 East to I-59 South to the Trenton GA exit (Hwy 136). Follow the directions below for the Western Approach.
Western Approach: From Trenton, GA, follow GA 136 East over Lookout Mountain towards Lafayette. At the bottom of the mountain there is an intersection with GA 193 at a stop light. From the intersection of GA 136 and GA 193, turn right (south) on GA 193 and go about 2 miles to Harold Stephens Road on the right. Follow Stephens Road back into the cove, bearing left at each of two T-intersections. Follow the paved road through a gate (normally locked, but open for board meetings or other events) until the pavement ends. Park in the designated area. A map is available here.
